Jack Berger named HCAC Player of the Week for second time this season

Greenwood, Ind. – For the second time in the 2017-2018 men's golf season, Transylvania men's golf junior Jack Berger has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's golf, the conference office announced Monday.

Berger, a junior from Louisville, Kentucky (St. Xavier HS), continued his stellar fall run with a top-six finish at last Monday's Tournament Town Preview in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Held at the site of the upcoming 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships, Berger shot a two-under par 70 in Sunday's first round, and followed with a one-over par 73 in round two. Berger compiled a three-round score of 218 to finish sixth out of 90 competitors.

The round-one 70 was the lowest round of Berger's collegiate career. The Tournament Town Preview marked the second time in the Fall 2017 season in which Berger has finished in first among his Pioneer teammates.

The award is Berger's second of the 2017-2018 season after picking up Player of the Week Honors following the week of September 3-10.

Berger and the Pioneers complete their fall schedule today with Round Two of the Gordin Collegiate Classic from Delaware, Ohio.
