The Transylvania men's golf team began their spring season with a Friday dual match against the Guilford College Quakers at PGA National.

Guilford staved off the Pioneers in a 310-300 final as the Pioneers kicked off their season against the host school of this year's NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships.

Junior Blake Young led the scorecards for the Pioneers against Guilford, scoring a two-over par 74. Jack Berger finished two strokes back of Young with a 76, while senior Carson Wattenbarger carded a 77.

The Pioneers' five were rounded out by senior Clay Church's 83 and sophomore Harrison Lane's 88.

The Transylvania men's golf team next competes at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate in Jekyll Island, Georgia beginning on Friday March 16 for a three-round competition.
