Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania men's soccer senior back Jacob Hill has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer, the conference announced Monday.
Hill, a senior from Mount Sterling, Kentucky (Montgomery County HS), was part of an airtight defensive back line that posted the sixth shutout of the year for Transylvania in its conference opener versus defending conference champion Rose-Hulman.
In Saturday's 1-0 victory against the Engineers, Hill prepared a back line which did not allow a shot on goal over 90 minutes by Rose-Hulman. Hill and the Pioneers held Rose-Hulman to just seven total shots while the Pioneers mustered a shot margin of plus-10.
Transylvania now boasts an HCAC-best 0.37 goals-allowed per match average following Saturday's result.
This is the first player of the week award of Hill's career and the third of the season earned by a Transylvania men's soccer player.
Hill and the Pioneers continue their conference schedule on Wednesday, October 4 when they visit the Mount St. Joseph University Lions in Cincinnati, Ohio at 7:00 p.m.
