McCullough, Kee shine in triple jump to lead Pioneers T&F at Depauw Invitational

Olivia Kee 4th place

Greencastle, Ind. – Individual records across the board continued to fall as the Transylvania Track and Field team took part in the DePauw Invitational on the campus of DePauw University on Saturday afternoon.

Transylvania track and field head coach Taylor Throckmorton was pleased with his team's performance overall. "I'm really happy with how everyone tuned up today before the conference championship next weekend," said Throckmorton. "We had a lot of season-bests and personal records, which continues to show the athletes are moving in the right direction.

The Pioneers' day was highlighted by junior Nathan McCullough, who placed third in the men's triple jump event with a mark of 12.51 meters.

Among the record-breaking performances for Transylvania included sophomore Gunnar Eaton, who broke the school record in the men's weight throw event with a throw of 13.80 meters.

"For the third consecutive week, the men's weight throw school record got broken again," remarked Throckmorton. "It's really fun to watch those guys passing around the record.  Each of them really wants it and is hungry for it, but also sincerely wants their teammates to succeed and throw well, even if that means beating their own school record.  That kind of environment and culture is rare and fun to be a part of."

After winning her preliminary heat with a time of 9.87 seconds, Transylvania junior Olivia Kee placed fourth in the women's 60-meter hurdles final with an identical time of 9.87 s.

Up next, the Pioneers will travel to Anderson, Indiana to participate in their final indoor event of the 2018 circuit, the HCAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, May 17.
