Moir and Lamar lead Pioneers through first two rounds of Jekyll Island Invitational

Jekyll Island, Ga.–  Sophomore Meredith Moir led the Transylvania women's golf team through the second round of the Jekyll Island invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Moir followed up a team-low 78 in Friday's first round with a round of 82 on Saturday, and is currently tied for 26th place on the individual leaderboard with a score of +26. Moir's round was highlighted by a birdy on the third hole, and pars on three of the next four holes, good for a two-over par on the front nine. After struggling on the final three holes, Moir ended her day 10-over par.

Transylvania freshman Lexie Lamar scaled the leader board, as she jumped 32 spots in the standings on Saturday, as she shot a team low 77 after recording a first-round 89 on Friday. The stellar round led to a current score of +22 for Lamar, who now holds a tie for 57th place heading into the final round on Sunday. Lamar pared 12-of-18 holes on Saturday, while only recording six bogies.

Sophomore Jenna Soderling recorded a birdie on three, and ended her day shooting +11, taking her weekend score to +18, good for a four-way tie for 81st.

Transylvania Junior Keeley Goff rounds out the standing for the Pioneers, as she currently holds 155th place while shooting a +55 on the weekend.

The Pioneers currently hold 20th place in the overall team standings, after shooting a +119 through the first two rounds of the tournament, and are within striking distance of several teams heading into tomorrow's final round.
