Strong finish from Moir leads Pioneers women's golf into 13th place finish at Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island, Ga. – Meredith Moir carded an 82 on Sunday afternoon in the final round of the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate tournament to help the Transylvania women's golf team vault up two spots to finish in 13th place at the conclusion of the three-round tournament.

Moir birdied the par-3 12th hole at Indian Mound to finish off a solid back nine at two-over-par as the senior pulled the Pioneers into a tie for a 13th-place finish.

Transylvania finished with a three-day score of 993 at Jekyll Island in its second spring tournament of 2019. Moir finished with a share of 39th place along with her teammate, Lexie Lamar, who carded an 89 in the third and final round of the tournament. Each player finished with a three-round score of 244 in the par-72 tournament elapsing 54 holes.

Jenna Soderling matched Moir with an 82 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 55th place on the 119-player leaderboard. The senior led the Pioneers in pars on Sunday with 10 total.

Rachel Fine completed her three-round performance at Jekyll Island with a cumulative score of 255 while Rebecca Fine finished with a score of 271.

Transylvania shot past Piedmont College and bested Birmingham Southern by one stroke on Sunday to finish in a 13th-place tie with the latter as the Pioneers completed one of the most challenging tournaments in the southern region.

The Pioneers will continue their travels with a cross-country voyage to Indio, California for the two-round Bulldog Classic hosted by the University of the Redlands, beginning on Monday, March 25.
