Lexington, Ky. - The Transylvania swimming and diving team will welcome nine Division III programs to Lexington this weekend for the sixth edition of the Transylvania Invitational, held at the University of Kentucky's Lancaster Aquatic Center on Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2.
Serving as Transylvania's marquee home event for the 2018-19 season, this year's two-day meet at Lancaster will feature women's and men's squads from Anderson University, Franklin College, Hanover College, Oberlin College, Rhodes College, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, The University of the South, and Wittenberg University.
The newly-formed Hanover swim program and Oberlin will join the other seven schools from last year's meet this weekend. The 2018 Transylvania Invitational also provides a look at five Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference swimming programs.
The Franklin women's swimming and diving team comes to Lexington as the reigning women's champion of the Transylvania Invitational while the Rose-Hulman men are the defending men's champion of the event. Rose-Hulman also took the combined first-place finish while Franklin and Rhodes finished in second and third place, respectively.
Saturday's preliminary session begins at 11:45 a.m. while the finals commence at 6:30 p.m. Sunday's Day Two action begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by finals at 5:00 p.m.
Tickets for the weekend's sessions are $5 per session for adults, $3 for college students with university ID cards from participating institutions, and free for children ages 6 and under. All-session passes for the entire weekend's set of races are available for $20.
