St. Louis – The Transylvania Volleyball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule on Saturday afternoon with a three-set loss against the Depauw University Tigers in Washington University in St. Louis's Varsity Gym.

Depauw claimed a 25-23, 25-18, 25-16 win against Transylvania in the teams' final match at the Baden Invitational on Saturday. Transylvania went 1-2 for the weekend to sign off on a promising regular season at 19-9.

The Pioneers mustered a 12-kill first set to battle to the edge with Depauw, but were hindered by 18 combined errors over the next two sets as Depauw pulled away.

Sophomore setter Hannah Talkers led the Pioneers with 19 assists, four digs, six blocks, and three kills. Senior Libero Marissa Coutinho led the Pioneers with 14 of 42 team digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Abby Wills added 10 digs.

Freshman middle blocker Ellie Stigger had an active day up front with eight kills and six blocks.

With closely-positioned teams near the top of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams jousting for top spots in the standings in advance of next week's six-team conference tournament, the Pioneers will host a first-round game next Wednesday at a time to be determined. The Pioneers completed their HCAC run at 7-2 along with Rose-Hulman and Bluffton, slotting all three teams in a tie for second place to complete their seasons.
