Michael Ray was a standout golfer for the Transylvania men’s golf team from 1999 to 2003. In all four of his seasons with the Pioneers, Ray won the Transylvania men’s golfer award in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. In his junior campaign, Ray won the 2002 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Tournament. A long career at Transylvania culminated in Ray being named the 2003 Pioneer Student-Athlete of the Year.

Other accolades for the decorated Transy golfer while a student-athlete at Transy included medaling at the 2002 and 2003 Transylvania Invitational tournaments, selection to the Verizon Academic All-District IV Men’s at-large Team, and an HCAC Player of the Week accolade.

In addition to his excellence throughout four years on the links as a Pioneer, Ray was active in campus life, serving as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Ray remains a committed supporter of Transylvania Athletics, augmenting the annual summer Transylvania Golf Tournament through his family business, Modern Distributing.
