Known in her college days as "Margot," Margaret Walton Elam was an outstanding defensive player for the women's basketball team. She played all four years and was team captain as a junior. Elam is particularly remembered for her tenacious play in a critical win over rival Georgetown. After graduation, Elam became a high school English and speech teacher in Indiana.
