Harry Stephenson has been a basketball player, teacher, basketball coach, baseball coach, director of athletics, golf coach, baseball umpire, and basketball and baseball official during his more than 60-year association with Transylvania. Stephenson came to Transy in 1936, but World War II and two years of professional baseball interrupted his college career. He returned to Transy and completed his A.B. degree in 1945, then earned a master's degree in education at the University of Kentucky. After one year as a high school teacher and coach, Stephenson returned to Transylvania in 1948 as a physical education professor and basketball and baseball coach. He retired in 1983, yet he never gave up his active role and keen interest in Transy athletics.
