Vice President / Director of Athletics

Holly is in her sixth year at Transylvania University and was named Vice President of Athletics in July 2013. She became the first woman to serve as Director of Athletics at Transylvania University and just the third female director of athletics in Kentucky. In January 2015 she was appointed to the President's Cabinet and was promoted to Vice President for Athletics in May, 2015.

As Director of Athletics, Sheilley is responsible for 27 NCAA-sponsored sport teams, plus eventing and cheer & dance teams with over 420 student-athletes. Under her leadership, the Pioneers have seen construction completed on the Harry Stephenson Field and Pat Deacon Stadium as well as the Fourth Street Athletic Complex. She has been instrumental in the rebranding of the athletic department, addition, and development of sports medicine and strength/conditioning staff, and refresh of the Pioneer Club.  

Prior to Transylvania University, Sheilley served as the assistant director of championships for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). During her tenure at the NCAA, she managed four Division I Championships, including two of the largest in terms of student-athlete participants, as well as five Division III Championships. In this role she was responsible for planning and execution of multiple championships in collaboration with hosts, NCAA committees, vendors, playing rules, media constituents, and national coaching bodies.  She monitored and negotiated budgets and contracts over $3 million dollars.  Prior to coming to the NCAA, she served as the assistant director for student development and championships at the University of Louisville where she was for over eight years.

Sheilley's duties at the University of Louisville included bidding and managing Olympic championship tournaments both at the conference and national levels, as well as coordinating the Cardinals' LCare program as part of the NCAA CHAMPS/LifeSkills. U of L has served as host of the NCAA field hockey Championship, NCAA men’s basketball, BIG EAST volleyball, and numerous other NCAA and BIG EAST championships during her stint. During her tenure, U of L hosted over 40 championships.

Sheilley has served on numerous internal and external committees including the Bluegrass Sports Commission Board, NCAA Division I Track & Field Committee, the University of Louisville's Commission on the Status of Women, the Big East Track & Field Committee, and the Asbury College Alumni Board.
