Ninth-inning rally boosts Transy, 8-7
LEESBURG, Fla. - Transylvania used a big five-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday to subdue Albion 8-7 in the Russ Matt Invitational.

Transy improveds to 5-4 on the season while Albion moves to 2-3.

The Pioneers trailed 7-3 entering the bottom of the frame before putting together three hits, two walks, and two hit batters to get the win. Albion also had an error in the frame. Nick Edwards, who reached on an RBI single, eventually scored the winning run with one out when Ben Pelham singled up the middle.

Zach Riney pitched the final three innings to get the win in his first decision of the year. He allowed two hits and two runs, one earned, with one strikeout and one walk. Ryan James got the start and covered the first five innings, with one strikeout and three walks. Royce Neeley pitched one perfect inning.

Albion took a 3-0 lead in the first before Transy rallied with two runs in the second and another in the third. Albion regained the advantage two runs in the fifth and made it 7-3 with two more in the seventh.

Transy wound up with 10 hits, four by designated hitter Pelham, who drove in two runs. Sam Liggett had two hits, including a double, with two RBI and a run scored. Edwards also had two hits with a run and a run batted in.

Transy completes its Florida schedule on Friday with a 10 a.m. contest with Rhodes.
