Transy falls to Rhodes in Florida finale
AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Transylvania's Nick Edwards had two hits and two RBI Friday, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Pioneers from falling to Rhodes 10-2 in their final game in the Russ Matt Invitational.

Transy is 5-5 on the season after splitting their six Florida games while the Lynx improved to 10-10.

The game was close for most of the day. Transy trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Rhodes tacked on a run in the bottom of the seventh, then used a five-run eighth-inning rally to pull ahead.

Transy jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on Edwards' single that brought in Zach Bynum. Rhodes scored four times in the second and Transy added a single run in the third. that would be all the scoring until the late stages of the game.

Jamie King started on the mound for the Pioneers. He took the loss after allowing four hits and four runs with three strikeouts and two walks. He was followed by Shelby Dixon, Elliot Desilets, Armando Bosch.

John Michael Cowley, Hunter Jones, and Hunter Voshell had Transy's other three hits.

Transy is back in action on Tuesday when the Pioneers travel to Thomas More for 4:30 p.m. contest. They open Heartland Conference play next weekend at Earlham.
