Cheer & Dance receive bid to National Competition

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Transylvania Cheer and Dance Team's hard work paid off this week as both teams received a National Bronze Bid to attend the NCA/NDA Collegiate National Competition at the Collegiate Cheer Camp on Monday in Louisville, Ky.

A bronze bid provides partial payment for each team's travel to the NCA/NDA National Cheer & Dance Competition in Daytona Beach, Fla. in April.

The cheer team received high markings during the camp, receiving the highest rating of superior on the "Game Day" final evaluation and on their "Rally Routine." During the camp's final competition, the team received a third-place trophy in the "All Girl Intermediate" Division.

The dance team also marked high on their "Team Dance" final evaluation, receiving a superior rating, in addition to placing second in the Dance Division III camp competition.

Dance team junior Hannah Adams was also named as an All-American.

Coach Tora Carter was recognized at camp for her technical knowledge, receiving the Collegiate Credentialing Award, awarded to those who complete the Collegiate Training Program and successfully pass the NCA/NDA written test.

Louisville is the NCA/NDA's largest summer camp. This year, it featured more than 700 cheerleaders and dancers from universities across the nation, including Michigan State, University of Michigan, University of Louisville, Purdue and Missouri State.
