Daytona Beach, FL – The Transylvania Cheer and Dance teams wrapped up two intense days of competition at the 2016 National Cheerleaders Association and National Dance Alliance National Championships on Friday.
Guided by 10th year head coach Tora Carter, the Pioneers dance team embarked on their fourth trip to the NDA Collegiate championships while the Transylvania cheer team participated in their second ever NCA championships. Both squads were attempting to follow up with their appearances last year in Daytona Beach.
The NCA & NDA Collegiate Championships are the largest collegiate championship competitions in the world, and each Pioneer squad qualified for the prestigious event last August at the University of Louisville via their summer qualifying events. The Pioneer squads each obtained Bronze bids to earn a return to Daytona Beach.
Each team completed their preliminary rounds on Thursday. The Transylvania Cheerleading team participated in the Intermediate All-Girl Division II. The Pioneers Dance squad competed in the Team Performance Division III.
Coach Carter was enthused with her cheer team's performance after the preliminary round, saying "Everything hit during the performance, and we're looking forward to what's ahead for this team."
The Dance team also displayed their newest performance at Nationals to finish their preliminary day with momentum.
The Transylvania Cheerleading team finished the competition placing eighth in their division. The Pioneers Dance team placed seventh in their competition as both teams improved their scores in their Day Two performances.
