Robinsonville, Miss. – The Transylvania men's golf team completed a grueling two days of golf at the Rhodes College Fall Classic at Tunica National Golf Course on Monday.
Transylvania turned in a full 36 holes of golf Sunday afternoon, playing 18 holes in the morning and following with a second round in the afternoon, after which the Pioneers found themselves in a tie for eighth place on the team leaderboard.
In Monday's third round, the Pioneers shot a 307, finishing with a three-round score of 899 to finish in 13th place out of 19 participating teams.
Transy's most consistent performer for the weekend was junior Blake Young, who shot a three-under par 69 in the second round, and finished six-over for the weekend with a 219 (T-19th). Junior Jack Berger also turned in a solid weekend of golf, finishing seven-over par with a 223 (T-37th). Senior Carson Wattenbarger finished just one stroke behind Berger, shooting an even second round to card a three-round 224 (T-42).
Another sterling performance came from sophomore Jeb Brumley, who shot a 229 to finish in a tie for 56th place. Competing as an individual, Brumley shot a first-round 73 to set the tone for a successful weekend for the underclassman.
Transylvania is next in action on September 23, as they begin the three-round NCAA Preview at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina. Grandover will serve as the site of next May's NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
