Defiance, Ohio – Junior men's golfer Zach Treilobs turned in a top-notch performance to finish in second place on Sunday afternoon at the two-round Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Eagle Rock Golf Club.
Treilobs shot a one-over par 71 on Saturday and duplicated that performance in Sunday's second round with a 71 for a two-day score of 142 to finish one stroke behind the tournament champion Zach Goodchild of Ohio Northern University.
Berger carded an even 70 on Saturday to finish with a two-round 145 to finish in a three-way tie for fifth place. Brumley and Young each turned in two-day scores of 149 to finish the event tied in a four-way deadlock for 15th place.
Sophomore Spencer McKinney placed in a tie for 22nd with a 151; the Pioneers as a team finished in third place for the tournament, finishing with a team score of 597. Mount St. Joseph University captured the team championship with a 584 while Division II Tiffin University finished five strokes ahead of Transylvania to take second place at Eagle Rock.
The two-round invitational served as the final tune-up for the Pioneers prior to the four-round Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships, which will elapse over the upcoming two weekends. The Pioneers along with their HCAC challengers will return to Eagle Rock for rounds three and four of the conference championships on Saturday, May 5. The first and second rounds of the HCAC Men's Golf Championships begin next Saturday, April 28 in Franklin, Indiana.
