Cincinnati, Ohio – The Transylvania men's lacrosse team unleashed another powerful outcome against the Mount St. Joseph University Lions in their second conference matchup of the 2019 campaign as the Pioneers won 30-1 on Saturday afternoon at Schueler Field.
Less than two weeks after setting multiple program records against the Lions including goals in a game, the Pioneers matched the single-game record on Saturday by replicating the score of their previous meeting.
The Pioneers moved to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference play while the Lions dropped to 0-3 in conference action.
After starting the previous matchup on a 16-0 run, the Pioneers scored the first 13 goals on Saturday to take a 13-0 lead on the Lions after one quarter of play. Mount St. Joseph discovered its lone goal of the match to start off the second quarter before the Pioneers outscored the Lions 6-0 the rest of the half for a 19-1 outlook by halftime.
Bryce Lowe completed a hat-trick with the first goal of the second half by Transylvania as the Pioneers blanked the Lions 7-0 in the third quarter. With little drama remaining by the fourth quarter, Transylvania tacked on three final scores for the 30-1 final.
Logan Fogle collected a career-high 10 ground balls to add to the Pioneers' total of 63 ground balls on Saturday, tying the program mark for the second-most amount of ground balls scooped in one game.
Michael Webb picked up the win in goal for Transylvania, standing tall in goal for the first half with one save before Luke Garas cleared the final half hour of play for the Pioneers and made two more saves for the Pioneers.
Transylvania won 30 of 34 face-offs on Saturday and converted 28 of 31 successful clears.
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday, April 10 as they host the Earlham College Quakers in an HCLC matchup. Opening face-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
