Lexington, Ky. – Transylvania men's lacrosse head coach Terry Justice announced today that Logan Otto has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Transylvania men's lacrosse team.
"Logan has done an exceptional job in all phases of helping our lacrosse program," said Justice. "He continues to grow not only as a person, but a coach. By taking an increased role, Logan will help us grow our program and strengthen our program in all facets from further developing our alumni base to molding our players into outstanding student-athletes, and expanding our ability to promote our program and better connecting with our fanbase. He has spent ample time in the offseason expanding his knowledge base in graphic design, social media strategy, and coaching philosophy; he will continue to be a critical leader for our program."
Otto is entering his seventh year with the Transylvania men's lacrosse team and has spent the past five seasons as a full-time assistant coach for the Pioneers. During his time with the Pioneers program, Transylvania men's lacrosse has encountered overwhelming success, including the program's first three trips to the NCAA Tournament, each occurring consecutively over the last three seasons.
In his new role as Associate Head Coach, Otto will take on additional duties as the lead recruiting coordinator for the program, spearheading alumni relation efforts and leading social media operations for the program.
The Pioneers have compiled a 67-29 win-loss record during Otto's time with the program. During his span with the team, Transylvania has won five consecutive conference tournament championships and four of the last five conference regular-season championships.
Otto is an active member in the Bluegrass lacrosse coaching ecosystem and has directed a number of camps and clinics on an annual basis including the Commonwealth Lacrosse Classic.
Along with being an integral part of Transylvania's men's lacrosse NCAA Tournament success, Otto has had a direct imprint upon the individual success of several student-athletes who have come through the program over the past six seasons. In the 2019 season, junior Trenton Sneed earned the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference's Offensive Player of the Year Honors while junior T.J. Toivonen earned the HCLC Defensive Player of the Year award. Additionally, eight Pioneers earned All-HCLC First Team honors.
Coaching continuity has been a hallmark of the Transylvania men's lacrosse team as Otto has worked hand-in-hand with 2019 HCLC Coach of the Year Terry Justice for the entirety of his time at Transylvania. Otto and Justice's partnership dates back to 2003 when Otto was a sophomore for Justice's brand-new boys' lacrosse program at Lexington Catholic High School. The team reached the state championship in Otto's senior season and the program would go on to win a state championship in 2010 under Justice. Otto was a high school All-American in his senior year at Lexington Catholic under Justice.
Justice and Otto will guide a team in 2020 which is aiming for its fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and sixth straight conference tournament championship.
