Transylvania Men’s Soccer introduces Class of 2023

Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania men's soccer program has solidified its roster ahead of the 2019 season in welcoming its incoming recruiting class for the fall of 2019.

"We are excited to welcome this incoming group to our program," stated Transylvania men's soccer head coach Matt Vogel. "They are all quality people who are hungry for success. They will strengthen our returning squad and I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish during their time here."

The following players will be joining the program this upcoming fall:


Eddy Andrade action  

Name: Eddy Andrade

Hometown/High School: Lexington, Ky. / Dunbar High School

Club Team: Lexington FC and Javanon

High School Honors: 2017 and 2018 First Team All-State, 2018 All-Tournament Team, Kentucky Club State Champion (2016, 2017, 2018)

Vogel on Andrade: "Eddy is an extremely versatile, hardworking player who makes things happen.  He is one of those guys who could play any position on the field. He can score goals from midfield and understands how to defend, which adds to his overall impact in games."


Gino Arena action  

Name: Gino Arena

Hometown/High School: Louisville, Ky. / Atherton High School

Club Team: Javanon

High School Honors: 2019 State Cup Champion

Vogel on Arena: "Gino is a skilled keeper with good shot-stopping ability.  He has a good distribution skill set and comes from a club that regularly competes for championships. He is skilled with his hands and owns his box."


Alec Coomes in action  

Name: Alec Coomes

Hometown/High School: Taylorsville, Ky. / Spencer County High School

High School Honors: 2016, 2017 All-District, most assists on his team in 2017, Club State Champion

Club Team: Javanon

Vogel on Coomes: "Alec can play a variety of attacking and midfield positions that make him very effective. He is skilled and has a nice strike on goal. He can go from building up play in midfield to getting on the end of a ball to serve or finish on goal."




Crispin action  

Name: Mitchell Crispin

Hometown/High School: Cleveland, Tenn. / McCallie School

Club Team: Darlington Academy

High School Honors: 56 goals in 39 games as a senior, 36 goals in 38 games as a junior for Darlington, two-time State Cup Champion with CESA

Vogel on Crispin: "Mitchell is a potent goal scorer and finisher. He is very good on the ball, can take players on and create with pace, and is a deadly finisher around the box. He can play both central and wide areas and can impact the game in multiple ways."


Ben Davis  


Name: Ben Davis

Hometown/High School: Flatwoods, Ky. / Darlington School

Club Team: Darlington Academy

High School Honors: Varsity Captain

Vogel on Davis: "Ben is a sturdy defender and a good ball winner. He also has good ability with his feet in playing out of the back. He comes from a good Darlington program where they have a history of producing good players and good talent."



Name: Gavin Nicholson

Hometown/High School: Versailles, Ky. / Woodford County High School

Club Team: Lexington FC

High School Honors: Academic All-State (four years), Team Defensive and Offensive MVP (Junior and Senior Years)

Vogel on Nicholson: "Gavin is a solid ball winner and strong defender.  He reads the game well and is solid on the ball building out of the back.  He comes from a strong club team and has experience in competing for championships."



Name: Cayden Urmston

Hometown/High School: Liberty Township, Ohio / Lakota East High School

Club Team: CUP Gold

High School Honors: USYS National Championship semifinalists, First-Team selection for Greater Miami Conference, four-year varsity letterman, and 2016-17 National League Champion

Vogel on Urmston: "Cayden is a great shot-stopper and has a great skill set.  He has height which allows him to get to high balls and crosses, and he is good in distribution.  He is a good vocal leader and has good command of his box."


Wilson Witt  

Name: Wilson Witt

Hometown/High School: Nashville, Tenn. / Martin Luther King Magnet School

Club Team: Tennessee United Soccer Club (TUSC)

High School Honors: Two-Time District 10 A-AA Champion, 2017 D1 Tennessee State Champion

Vogel on Witt: "Wilson is an athletic outside back and defender who is strong in 1v1 situations and can also get forward. He has good skill and has played against some very tough competition in his club career, and he has experience at stopping good attacking players."
