Franklin, Ind. – The Transylvania swimming and diving team completed a busy weekend of competition with a strong showing at the Franklin College Dual Meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers faced a formidable field that included the Franklin College Grizzlies, the Hanover College Panthers, and the Thomas More University Saints. Under the dual meet format, each team competed against one another in head-to-head competition.
Leading the way for Transylvania was junior Sarah Haerle who won the women's 200 breaststroke in 2:34.92, and placed 2nd in the women's 200 individual medley with a time of 2:22.55.
Transylvania junior Mattie Fogle also picked up a 2nd place finish in the women's 1650 yard freestyle event with a time of 19:25.20.
In the men's competition, Reese Arredondo continued his stellar freshman campaign by claiming a 2nd place finish in the men's 200 fly with a time of 2:10.83. Arredondo also turned in a 3rd place showing in the men's 1650 freestyle event in a time of 17:41.67.
With the dual meet scoring in effect the Pioneers claimed a combined victory of 200-179 over Thomas More, as well as a pair of women's victories over Thomas More (150-67), and Hanover (127-103).
Up next the Pioneers will return to Lexington to host the Transylvania Invitational at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The meet will begin on Saturday, December 1 and wrap up on Sunday, December 2.
