Keaton Koukis returns for her eighth season with the Pioneer swimming and diving program in 2019-2020 for her third season as the Associate Head Coach.

During Koukis’s time at Transylvania, 18 different individual and relay records have been rewritten along with 16 Conference Champions and 1 National Qualifier. During the 2017-2018 season, the women’s team had the highest GPA in the country for Division III women’s programs.

In her first season with Transylvania in 2012-13, Koukis served as the volunteer assistant before assuming the responsibilities of Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the 2013-14 season.

During the 2013-2014 season, the Pioneers coaching staff was awarded the OAC Women’s coaching staff of the year award. In 2014-15, she took the reins as the full-time assistant for the Pioneers, the same season in which the Pioneers’ first female swimmer qualified for NCAA Division III Nationals for the first time in program history.

She then took over the program as Head Coach during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 season, two seasons where the Pioneers excelled both in the classroom and in the pool.

During her first season as Head Coach (2015-2016), both the Men’s and Women’s teams received the CSCAA Academic All-America Award for maintaining above a 3.0 team GPA.

Originally from Peachtree City, Ga., Koukis coached her area summer league team for five years prior to her time at Transylvania.

Koukis graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University, in Springfield, Ohio where she majored in biology and was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers. While at Wittenberg, she became the school record holder in the 100 and 200 butterfly, and in her senior year she was named women’s team captain and was an NCAA National Qualifier/All-American as a member of the 200 medley relay.

Koukis earned a master’s in exercise physiology from the University of Kentucky in 2014.
