Lexington, Ky. - The Transylvania men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-2 victory over the Anderson University Ravens at the Transylvania Tennis Courts on Saturday morning.
The Pioneers raced out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of doubles play that included an 8-6 victory by the team of Daniel Cooper and Hunter Gregg in the No. 3 doubles match, and the 15th doubles win of the season for the freshman duo of Arjun Gupta and Hugo Kouhkna, who prevailed 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles.
Transylvania's dominance continued into singles play as the Pioneers opened with four straight victories, including a 6-0, 6-0 win for Noah McNamee at No. 4 singles that handed the Pioneers the 7-2 match victory.
With Saturday's result, the Pioneers' record improves to 9-11 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC, good for the No. 4 seed in next week's conference tournament.
The nine wins are the most by a Transylvania men's tennis team since the 2013 season.
Next up for the Pioneers is a matchup against the Franklin College Grizzlies in the opening round of the HCAC Tournament on Friday, May 3. The tournament will take place at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis, Indiana beginning on Friday and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, May 5.
