Carmel, Ind. – Transylvania women's golf senior Lexie Lamar has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Lamar earned the first player of the week award given out by the conference to begin the 2019-20 season after a strong showing in the Pioneers' opening tournament of the season this past weekend.
Lamar, a senior from Lewisport, Kentucky (Hancock Co.) turned in a top-five finish to open her season along with the Pioneer women's golf team at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational in Granville, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday.
The senior delivered identical scores of 79 to finish with a two-round score of 158 to take fifth place among a 77-player individual leaderboard, propelling the Pioneers to a sixth-place finish. Lamar also turned in the lowest score among all competing HCAC golfers.
This is the second player of the week award of Lamar's career (Week of September 10, 2018).
Lamar and the Pioneers return to action on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15 for the NCAA Preview Tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
