Rising Sun, Ind. – Lexie Lamar of the Transylvania women's golf team finished off a solid and consistent weekend with her first career medalist honors, winning the individual title over the field on Monday afternoon in the second and final round of the Rumble at Rising Star at the Links at Rising Star Casino Resort.

After beginning Monday morning in second place on the 32-player leaderboard, Lamar followed up her round-one score of 76 with a second-round 78 to finish with a two-round score of 154. The senior finished four strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, Emma Schrand of Mount St. Joseph University, who carded a 158.

Lamar and Schrand played to excellence as the only two players to record scores in the 70s in both rounds.

The Rumble at Rising Star was the second-straight tournament in which Lamar has finished with either a share of first place after 36 total holes or outright medalist honors.

Lamar's performance guided the Pioneers to a second-place finish out of five competing teams as host team Mount St. Joseph picked up the team title.

Grace Chilton had the best two-round performance of her early career, finishing in a tie for 13th place. The freshman turned in an 82 after shooting an 87 on Sunday to furnish a two-round 169.

Kelli Harpe took 18th place as the sophomore registered a two-round score of 173. Rachel Fine finished one stroke better than her Sunday score of 88 for a two-round 175 to finish in 20th place. Rebecca Fine posted a two-stroke improvement on Monday to finish in a three-way tie for 23rd place at 180. Hunter Copley, competing as an individual, matched Fine with a total score of 180 to join in the 23rd-place tie.

The Pioneers will now look ahead to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on October 12-13 in Bluffton, Ohio. The Pioneers will aim to three-peat as conference champions in the two-round, 36-hole event from the Bluffton Golf Club in their upcoming event.
