Bickford hits coaching milestone as Pioneers women's lacrosse scores 19 on Franciscan

Delaware, Ohio – The Transylvania women's lacrosse team erupted for 19 goals in a 19-10 victory against the Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons Sunday afternoon at Selby Stadium.

The win marked the 50th career victory in head coach Lauren Bickford's career on an afternoon that saw three different Pioneers register hat tricks.

Junior attack Julie Ward, sophomore midfielder Emma Oliver, and sophomore attack Lindsey Jenkins all had games of three goals or more in a busy day of scoring.

The Pioneers scored the first three goals of the day to jump out in front to grab a wire-to-wire win; Ward made her mark on the game within the first half minute as her goal initiated the scoring for the Pioneers.

Transylvania held a 13-5 lead at the half to take control of the contest, and outscored Franciscan 6-5 in the second half to pull away to victory.

The Pioneers improved to 2-1 on the season after Sunday's win. Transylvania took time to savor their head coach's milestone before preparing for its next match on Tuesday at home against Ursuline College. Transylvania and Ursuline will face each other at Pat Deacon Stadium at 3:00 p.m. on March 8.
