Greenville, Pa. - Tabulating its fourth-consecutive game with 21 goals or more, the Transylvania women's lacrosse team defeated the Thiel College Tomcats, 23-5 at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome on Sunday.
The Pioneers used another potent first half in clinching their sixth-consecutive victory and moving to 8-1 on the season and 3-0 in Ohio River Women's Lacrosse Conference play. Thiel fell to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Pioneers amassed a 3-0 lead less than a minute into the contest on goals from senior attack Julia Ward, junior midfielder Emma Oliver, and freshman midfielder Salem Carlow. Thiel's Mackenzie Quinn scored the first goal of the game for the Tomcats before the Pioneers responded to score 12 unanswered goals.
During the ensuing 12-0 run, six different Pioneers scored goals. Following their potent stretch, the Pioneers headed into halftime with a 15-2 advantage.
In the second half, the Pioneers sandwiched a pair of Thiel goals with four goals each.
Oliver led the Pioneers with nine points, tallying two goals and seven assists, and adding a team-high six ground balls. Four different Pioneers enjoyed hat-tricks on Sunday with freshman attack Shelby Wuest registering a team-high five goals along with three assists.
Transylvania continues its schedule on Saturday, March 31 as it visits Franklin College at 1:00 p.m. in Franklin, Indiana.
