Lexington, Ky. – It was a day of offensive exploits as six different Pioneers posted multi-goal performances and the Transylvania women's lacrosse team rolled to a 23-3 victory over the St. Vincent College Bearcats at Pat Deacon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The victory propels Transylvania's record to 7-2 overall while the Bearcats fall to 0-2 on the season.
The two veterans also reach a pair of milestones on Sunday. McCauley's third goal of the game was the 100th of her career while Oliver became the program's all-time leader in draw controls with seven on Sunday, giving her 249 for her career.
The Bearcats attempted to take control of the game right from the start as they drove the ball down the field and scored less than a minute into the game. The Pioneers responded by flashing their offensive might in the form of an 11-0 goal scoring run that was capped off by a Harper Zeitz goal at the 10:19 mark of the first half.
After a second St. Vincent score, the Pioneers ended the half with four straight goals, pushing their lead to 15-2 at the halftime break.
The Bearcats opened the second half with their third goal of the day before Transylvania went on to score eight straight goals via eight different Pioneers, pushing the final margin of victory to 23-3.
Transylvania dominated the Bearcats on both sides of the ball throughout the afternoon. The Pioneers posted a 22-6 advantage in draw controls over St. Vincent while outshooting the Bearcats by the final margin of 40-11.
Up next, the Pioneers will continue the trek through their nonconference slate with a trip to Danville, Kentucky to face the rival Centre College Colonels on Wednesday, March 27. The game is set for a 6:00 p.m. start at Farris Stadium.
