Lexington, Ky. - The Transylvania swimming team finished up a grueling weekend of home competition by hosting the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the William T. Young Center.
The Pioneers picked up a slew of victories on both the men's and women's side to finish their weekend strong. Transylvania started off the day with a victory in the women's 200 medley relay; the team of freshman Emma Lloyd, sophomore Sarah Haerle, senior Kiali Jelinek, and sophomore Grace Galyon took first place in 1:59.30.
Another victory came for Haerle in the women's 200 individual medley, taking first in 2:19.41. Jelinek came in second behind Hearle for one of Transy's best individual race performances. Haerle also went on to place first in the women's 100 breaststroke.
Jelinek took first in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 1:05.28, while senior Elizabeth Lewis took third in the event.
Lloyd claimed first-place in the women's 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:06.67.
On the men's side, freshman Drew Dodds took first in the men's 100 butterfly (55.75 seconds) and the men's 100 breastroke (1:02.31).
Sewanee claimed the combined team win by the score of 286-135.
Transylvania next returns to competition on Friday, November 17, visiting Union (KY) College in Barbourville, Kentucky. The dual meet is set for a 5:00 p.m. start.
