Lexington, Ky. – Transylvania Triathlon freshman Elizabeth Moore earned both All-Region Freshman and All-Region Team honors from the College Triathlon Coaches Association this week for her top performance at the Central Regional Qualifier event held in at Watauga Dam in Kingsport, Tennessee on September 16.
Moore took first place over a field of 43 triathletes from all three NCAA divisions to win the individual title at the Central Regional Qualifier as she completed the course in 38 minutes and 32 seconds. Moore finished 40 seconds better than the second-place finisher in the event to cap off the resounding performance as she won her third straight race to begin her collegiate career.
Moore took All-Freshman honors by finishing as the top freshman varsity finisher out of her division. Moore not only finished atop all Division III racers, but also all racers from the Division I and Division II levels who competed in the Central Regional Qualifier race.
The freshman also was one of three Division III racers in her category who achieved All-Region Team honors along with North Central College's Naomi Hill and Jennifer Hufnagle, an honor which went to the top-three finishers in each NCAA division.
"Elizabeth has had a great start to her collegiate career thus far," commented Transylvania triathlon head coach Kevin Ryan. "This is encouraging because she still has so much room to continue to improve."
