Colorado Springs, Colo. – Transylvania triathlon freshman Malauri Edwards was named the CTCA All-Central Regional Freshman of the Meet and was selected as an All-Central Region Freshman to lead a collection of awards earned by Pioneer triathletes following the season-opening Central Region Qualifier race in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Edwards and fellow freshman Grayson Bray kicked off their careers by earning their way upon the three-person CTCA All-Region Team for Division III women's triathlon as they finished the race as two of the top three finishers.

In what served as both the season-opening race for Transylvania and the collegiate debuts for each of the Pioneers' two racers, Edwards finished in second place over a field of 37 Division III competitors in a time of 1:09.17. Bray debuted with a third-place finish, trailing one spot behind Edwards with a time of 1:09.36.

By finishing in the top-three, each player earned selection onto the All-Region Team and clinched automatic berths into the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships in Tempe, Arizona on Sunday, November 16th.

"I am very proud of this young team," commented first-year Transylvania triathlon head coach Sean McNulty. "Their race results are being rewarded and I believe that this is just the beginning of the accolades for these two freshmen."

All-Region awards are awarded to the top-three finishers per NCAA Division; Division I and Division II races are also held the same weekend as the Division III Central Region Qualifier.
