CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men's tennis teams competed in week five of the 2024-25 season.
Transylvania's First Year
Jackson Fischer has been named Athlete of the Week for the second time in the early season. Fischer is currently undefeated in both doubles and singles this season. This past weekend Fischer went 4-0, pushing the Pioneers to a doubleheader sweep in HCAC play, Franklin and Manchester.

Jackson Fischer (Las Vegas, Nev.) Transylvania University | First Year - Transylvania Men's Tennis first year
Jackson Fischer went 4-0 last week, leading the Pioneers to a doubleheader sweep in HCAC play. Fischer went 2-0 at #1 doubles, defeating Franklin 6-4 and Manchester 6-0. He was also undefeated in singles, defeating Franklin at #2 6-3, 6-1 and Manchester at #1 6-2, 6-1. Fischer remains undefeated during the 2024-2025 season in both singles and doubles.
Notable Performances:
- Pedro Sette (Belo Horizante, Brazil) Anderson University | First Year - Pedro Sette won both his No. 2 doubles match and No. 2 singles match against IU-East without dropping a game in either match. Dylan Lemon/Pedro Sette earned a 6-0 victory against Clay Conner/Leo Calderon. Sette then recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win against Bryce Wennen. Anderson topped IU-East 6-1.
- Jackson Swopes (Ada, Okla.) Earlham College | First Year - Jackson Swopes went 2-2 at singles, and 3-1 at doubles in four matches for the Quakers this week. Swopes started his week with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No.4 singles against IU East, he also won 6-2 at No.1 singles against the Red Wolves. Swopes won in No.2 doubles against Rose-Hulman with partner Dev Agrawal 6-4 on Saturday. At Olivet on Sunday, Swopes won at No.4 singles 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, and won at No.2 doubles with Agrawal 6-3.
- Owen Pickerill (Pekin, Ind.) Franklin College | Senior - Pickerill went 2-0 in singles play over the weekend as Franklin came away with a split in two conference matches…earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles against Transylvania…was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at the same spot in the lineup in Franklin's win over Manchester.
- Ilya Gromochenko (Tucson, Ariz.) Hanover College | Sophomore - Ilya led Hanover past Shawnee State 5-2 over the weekend. The sophomore won his no. 3 doubles match 6-2 before sweeping the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win at no. 6 singles.
- Ervin Perkowski (Lincolnshire, Ill.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Sophomore - Perkowski finished the weekend with a 2-1 overall record on Saturday as he picked up a 7-5 win at the #1 doubles position against Earlham. He also won his only singles match of the weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #4 position against Greenville. His lone loss of the day came at #1 doubles with a 6-1 loss to Greenville.
