BLUFFTON, OH - Transylvania defeated Bluffton on Saturday to move to 3-0 in the conference, 56-45.
Makya Grinter kick started the scoring in the first quarter making both free throws. A tip-in by
Raegan Barrett gave Transylvania their first field goal and lead of the afternoon, 4-3. Bluffton would close out the opening quarter on a 9-2 run, 12-6. Coming out of the break, Grinter made a three point basket to bring Transylvania back within three. Bluffton led by nine, 24-15, with 3 minutes to go in the first half. Transylvania ended the half on a 9-3 run - a layup by
Sierra Kemelgor, a three pointer from
Keaton Hall and two layups by Grinter - to bring the score at half to 27-24.Â
Transylvania's offense continued into the third quarter and took the lead with fast break layup by Barrett at the 08:57 mark. Both teams would exchange baskets throughout the following minutes. Free throws by Kemelgor and a field goal by Hall would give Transylvania the lead by 6 with nearly two minutes to play. Transylvania would go into the final quarter up 4, 41-37. Transylvania would maintain their lead throughout the opening minutes of the fourth. Back to back layups by Barrett would extend the Transylvania lead to 7 with a minute to play, 51-44.
Hannah Glisson closed out the scoring for Transylvania as she went 5-6 from the free throw line in the final minute.Â
Makya Grinter led Transylvania in the scoring column with 17, with
Sierra Kemelgor following with 15.
Keaton Hall led the team in rebounds with 8 and
Raegan Barrett added 7.Â
Transylvania returns to action on Wednesday, December 17th as the Pioneers travel to North Manchester, IN. Transylvania will tip-off against HCAC opponent Manchester University at 1 PM.Â
