The Pioneers broke through in the 33rd minute when Makenna Johnson found the back of the net off an assist from Emersyn Cox to give Transylvania a 1-0 advantage. Johnson, who entered the match as a substitute in the 30th minute, made an immediate impact with what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Anderson looked to respond in the closing minutes of the opening half, generating three shots in the final seven minutes. Carrie Stevens came up with a key save on Kennedy Hurst's attempt in the 45th minute to preserve the lead as Transylvania entered halftime holding a 1-0 advantage.

The Ravens increased their offensive pressure in the second half, testing the Transylvania defense with six shots. Stevens made an early stop on Jess Rogozinski in the 49th minute before turning away another attempt from Mailee Cornette in the 69th minute. Transylvania continued to create opportunities of its own, with Ellie Held forcing a save from MacKiewicz in the 46th minute.

As the match entered its final 10 minutes, Anderson continued searching for the equalizer.
