Kevin Calhoun enters his first year as Associate Director of Athletics at Transy and his tenth overall, having served as the Head Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s programs in his tenure.

As Head Men’s Tennis Coach, Calhoun oversaw a resurgence in the program. The past three years have seen Transy finish second in the HCAC regular season standings three times and include a tournament championship and NCAA bid in 2023. In each of the past five seasons Calhoun led the HCAC Player of the Year for Men’s Tennis. For the past three years Calhoun has served on the NCAA DIII National Men’s Tennis Committee. He will serve as Chair of that committee in 2025-2026.

Calhoun's appointment in late summer of 2016 with Transylvania Tennis carried him just a few blocks down Lexington from his most recent position at the University of Kentucky, where he served as the women's tennis assistant coach from 2010-2016. During his time as an Assistant Coach for the Wildcats Women's Tennis team, Kentucky made breathtaking strides, improving from a two-win season prior to his arrival in 2010 to an 18-win season and a top-15 national ranking in 2015. Under Calhoun's guidance, the Wildcats produced the doubles tandem of Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjadi, who became the first Kentucky duo to reach a quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament in over a decade. The two were named All-Americans in spring of 2016, becoming the ninth and tenth student-athletes under Calhoun's tutelage to achieve All-American status.

He was also named the ITA Division 1 Ohio Valley Assistant Coach of the Year twice, in 2014 and 2016.

Calhoun has forged a career built upon success and top-level results that preceded his tenure at the University of Kentucky. A 1998 graduate of Georgetown College (Ky.), Calhoun served as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach of his alma mater from 2000 through 2010, developing eight All-Americans and earning the 2010 East Region NAIA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award.

In addition to his coaching duties at multiple Central Kentucky institutions, Calhoun was an official for the ATP and WTA professional tennis tours. Between 1998 and 2006, these assignments saw Calhoun officiate two US Open women's singles finals (2002, 2004) and one US Open men’s singles final (2003) along with matches at Wimbledon, Federation Cup ties, and Davis Cup ties.

Calhoun obtained his Master’s in Sports Administration from Arkansas State University in the summer of 2021.

Calhoun lives in Nicholasville, KY with his wife Alison and daughter Hannah.
