Danville, Ky. - The Transylvania swimming and diving team picked up five event victories in Friday night's dual meet against the in-state rival Centre College Colonels at Boles Natatorium.
The meet was the first for the Pioneers in 2021 and was their final meet against a nonconference opponent before fully turning their attention to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate.
Leading the way for the Transylvania men's team was Jacob Young, who capped off a tremendous day with victories in the men's 50 freestyle (22.63 seconds) and the men's 100 freestyle (50.36 seconds).
Young also teamed up with Connor Hood, Devon Parker, and Drew Dodds to forge a second-place finish in the men's 200 medley relay (1:42.85).
Reese Arredondo also reached the top of the podium for the Transylvania men on Friday, racing to a victory in the men's 1,000 freestyle (11:16.24).
On the women's side, Transylvania's lone first-place finish came via Olivia Greinke in the women's 100 breaststroke. The freshman finished the race in a time of 1:12.73.
Greinke then joined with Emma Lloyd, Sami Monarch, and Logan Thomas to take home a runner-up finish in the women's 200 medley relay (1:59.58).
One of the many highlights on Friday was the performance of the Transylvania men's diving team, which swept the top two spots in the men's 1-meter dive event. Charles Craycraft claimed first place with a score of 347.33, followed by Thomas Pearson in second place with 231.83 points.
Despite the strong showing by the Pioneers, Centre picked up the 292-138 combined victory on Friday.
Transylvania's next competition is scheduled for Friday, January 29 when the Pioneers return to HCAC action to host the Hanover College Panthers at the William T. Young Center.
