Louisville, Ky. – The Transylvania women's tennis team continued its tear through the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday night with a 7-2 victory over the Hanover College Panthers at Bass Rudd Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Louisville.
After two postponements due to weather, the Pioneers and Panthers were finally able to converge for their conference match near the midway point between both campuses. Transylvania quickly went to work on Wednesday, sweeping all three doubles matches to pave the way to their fourth win of conference play with one match to go in the conference regular season schedule.
The Pioneers improved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the HCAC while Hanover fell to 3-1 in conference play after Wednesday's decisive matchup.
The Pioneers sealed the deal in singles play, capturing four of six matches across the board. Porsche Robinson won handily at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 over Maddie Shannon. Jessica Burton pushed the Pioneers over the finish line, sweeping Isabelle Roberts, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles spot. Grace Gardner wrapped up another dominant showing with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles over Melaina Tippery, and Katherine Taylor delivered the other singles win at the No. 5 position with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Rachel Pinnick.
Transylvania will head to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 9 to try and seal up a perfect HCAC regular season record in the final conference match of the season for the Pioneers. Opening serve of the dual meet is set for 11:00 a.m. from Terre Haute, Indiana.
