Bloomington, Ill. – The Transylvania women's tennis team picked up an impressive 9-0 victory over the Greenville University Panthers at the Evergreen Racquet Club on Friday night.
The Pioneers took control of the match early in the evening as
Porsche Robinson and
Jessica Burton each picked up straight-set victories in No. 1 and No. 2 singles action, respectively.
Grace Gardner delivered the Pioneers' most convincing victory of the evening, defeating Greenville's Claudia Principal 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match.
The highlight of singles play came via
Claire Roland, who picked up her first career victory. The freshman defeated Greenville's Samantha Siefken 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match.
In doubles action, the duo of
Erin Biddle and
Christina Duvall rolled to an 8-0 victory in the No. 3 matchup, sealing the 9-0 win for Transylvania.
The Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow morning when they face off against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. The match is set for an 11:30 a.m. start at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
