Nicholasville, Ky. – The Transylvania women's tennis team was upended by the Otterbein University Cardinals, 6-3 on Friday evening at Top Seed Tennis Club.
Competing in their first dual match of 2022, the Pioneers clashed with Otterbein for their first test since winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship last October at the same venue.
Otterbein earned the upper hand on Friday by taking two of three doubles matches against the Pioneers with Grace Gardner and Katherine Taylor claiming the doubles win at No. 2 doubles.
Taylor furnished an even more dominant performance in No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win, and Jessica Burton finished her night on a tear, winning 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. The Cardinals emerged victorious in the other four matches to deliver their road win.
Transylvania is next scheduled to compete on Friday, Feburary 18 – Sunday, February, 20 at the Pioneer Invite at Top Seed Tennis Club.
