Lexington, KY- The 2021-22 WGCA All-American Scholar Team announced their All-American Scholar Team, naming five Transylvania women's golfers as members. Kelli Harpe, Grace Chilton, Amira Smiley, Emma Spencer, and June Lee were honored for their academic achievements this year.    

"We are extremely proud of the efforts that these five players have made not only on the golf course, but in the classroom. To have your top 5 players all maintain a high level in the classroom is very important to us. The example they set is one for all players to look up to," says their head coach, Tyrus York. 

The GPA requirement for this prestigious honor is a 3.5. Transylvania is honored to have five of 1,485 women's collegiate golfers recognized nationally for this award from the Women's Golf Coaches Association. In addition to this success, the team took a runner-up finish at the HCAC Tournament this year and a season finale win at the Franklin Lady Grizzly Spring Invitational. 

Vice President of Athletics, Dr. Holly Sheilley said of the players' achievements, "There is no doubt that we want to strive for athletic excellence, but ultimately we want to prepare our student-athletes for the next 40 years of their life and success in the classroom is an important piece in that progression."
