Rowe Scores Twice, Transy Women's Soccer wins 7-0 against Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio- The Transylvanian Women's Soccer team was on the road this weekend tying off the last two games of the regular season against Defiance. The Pioneers took a dominating victory over Defiance in a 7-0 rout, moving Transy to 11-4-1 and 6-2 in HCAC play. 

The Pioneers started hot, as Isabella White scored 10 minutes into the match off a Meron Roach assist. White earned her 10th goal of the season in this game, setting her new career high in goals in a season after scoring 8 goals in the 2022 season. The half would see 2 more goals scored as Ciana Araya scored in the 32nd minute and Abbey Rowe connecting off the Rachel Green assist as Transy put up 18 shots in the half. 

Caitlen Fike would start the Pioneer attack scoring first in the 2nd half after receiving the assist from Tara PundAudrey Rawls would earn the second goal of the half as Lilia Steen would get her first assist of the game in the 71st minute. Lilia Steen would receive Tara "Tarzan" Pund's second assist of the day in the 74th minute to extend the Pioneer lead to 6-0 while playing the back line, only allowing 1 shot for Defiance the whole match. This game would conclude after the 7th goal would be scored by Abbey Rowe, earning her secong goal to push the Pioneers well past Defiance for another shutout win.

Carrie Stevens and Sheridan Harrison would both play goalie in today's match and neither would face a shot on goal. This game would conclude with a total of 37 shots for the Pioneers and 16 corner kicks as Defiance only had 1 shot off goal.

"It's always great to get a win on the road," Co-Head Coach Marcus Aldaba said. "The clean sheet is something we are also very pleased about. It's pretty crazy to think next week is the last match of the regular season."  

Transy has locked up a top four finish in the standings, and with a win versus Franklin in their next match the Pioneers will lock up the 3 seed for the HCAC tournament. They will host the first round of the tournament next Saturday. Time TBD

Transy will face Franklin this Wednesday at 7 PM in Franklin, Indiana.
