BLUFFTON, OHIO - Transylvania University defeated Bluffton on Sunday, earning their sixth HCAC victory of the season in the process.Â
McKenna Johnson landed the first shot of the afternoon for the Pioneers five minutes into the first half, assisted by
Isabella White. Transy would continue to possess the ball and look for their offense, taking fourteen shots in the half. At the 37 minute mark,
Isabella White's shot landed for Transy, followed by another Pioneer goal from
Maddi Benjamin just a minute later, giving Transy a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Minutes into the second half after a Bluffton goal, the Pioneers nearly found another opportunity, with
Lilia Steen and
Isabella White's shots being deflected by Bluffton within seconds of one another. The Pioneers would have their defensive efforts shine in the final minutes of the match, as Bluffton's two shots and two corner kicks in the final seven minutes were all deflected by Transy.
Carrie Stevens defended the goal for the entirety of the ninety minutes, earning four saves in the win.
"A good result on the road today that came with three quality goals," said Co-Head Coach Ashley Reinecke. "We now refocus to prepare for a big match up on Wednesday."
Transylvania will take on HCAC opponent Mount St. Joseph at Pat Deacon Stadium on Wednesday, October 30th at 7 p.m. in their regular season finale.Â
