GREENCASTLE, Ind. -The visiting Transy Men's Tennis team was unable to pick up a team win in their first outdoor match of 2024, losing 6-3 to the DePauw tigers Sunday. The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-6.

 

The doubles went the way of the Tigers early, with the teams of Jacob Jiranek/Jordan Cordrey (#2) and Jared Wells/Chase Moreman dropping their matches 8-3 and 8-1, respectively. The Pioneers managed to cut the deficit in half when Chris Kaufmann/Arjun Gupta served out an 8-5 win at #1.

 

The singles also saw the Pioneers playing from the back foot. Jiranek lost 6-2, 6-1 at #4, and Moreman had an identical scoreline in his loss at #5. When Jordan Cordrey was unable to pull through his match at #6 the teams' attention turned to the top three singles matches with the team match decided.

 

Gupta was at #2 singles, 5-3 (ret) when his opponent was unable to continue. Kaufmann won at #1 singles 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.  Perez Canedo was the last Transy player to finish, losing a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(4) decision at #3.

 

Next up for the team is a trip to Florida for Spring Break. The team will compete in four duel matches in Orlando, FL starting March 10.
