LEXINGTON, KY. — Transylvania University women's soccer battled Wittenberg University to a scoreless draw Friday night at Pat Deacon Stadium. The result moved the Pioneers to 2-2-2 on the season.
The Pioneers controlled much of the attacking pressure throughout the night, outshooting Wittenberg 16-2 and holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Transylvania placed five shots on goal while limiting the Tigers to just one.
Eva Blanke generated two early opportunities for the Pioneers, putting shots on goal in the 13th and 19th minutes, but both were turned away. Transylvania entered halftime with a 3-0 advantage in shots before increasing the pressure considerably after the break.
Transylvania produced 13 shots in the second half. Ginger Mooser put three attempts on goal during the period, including back-to-back chances in the 81st minute that were saved. Blanke finished with a team-high seven shots and two shots on goal, while Mooser recorded four shots with three on target. Ellie Held added three attempts.
On the other end, the Pioneer defense kept Wittenberg without a shot for the entire first half and allowed just two attempts over 90 minutes. Carrie Stevens played the full match in goal, making one save to secure the clean sheet.
Up next for Transylvania, the Pioneers travel to Wilmington College on Tuesday, September 22nd.
