Men's and Women's Swim and Dive compete at Union, win combined 248-191

Men Lose 111-117 and Women Win 137-74

BARBOURVILLE, KY- The Transylvania Men's and Women's Swim and Dive Team competed in their fourth meet this year against Union College. The team overall would win this match with a combined score 248 Transy to 191 Union. The split for Men's was a loss 111-117 then Women's winning 137-74. This moves both Men's and Women's records to 3-1.

Delaney McPherson was the Pioneer to start the first place finishes as she finished the Women's 1650 Yard Freestyle with a 20:13.63, finishing 6 minutes before the competition. Kole Brannock in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle was the first Pioneer to place first with a 1:50.10 final time. Finishing out Freestyle is Mary Grace Thompson who placed first in the Women's 50 Yard, finishing with a 29.91. 

Lukas McIntyre-Quinn again won in the IM competition finishing first with a 4:31.69 in the Men's 400 Yard. Moving to Butterfly both Men's and Women's placed first for the Pioneers in the 100 Yard. Riley Hayden placed first with a 1:12.55, then in the Men's category Kole Brannock placed first with a 53.42.

Delaney McPherson claimed her third individual first place after a 1:03.39 win in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke. The last swim event our Pioneers won would be in the Women's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as Mary Grace Thompson, Hannah Tapp, Charlotte Green, and Logan Thomas finished with a 3:54. 

Moving to Diving the Pioneers swept in all events for this category with the first place finishes coming to the following. In the Women's 1 meter Mackie Reford scored a 220.05, followed by the Men's 1 meter being won by Garrett Craycraft with a 210.95. In the 3 meter category the Women's team won again due to the efforts of Mackie Redford and scored a 230.35. The Men's 3 meter was finished by another first place for Garret Craycraft scoring a 198.10.


"We are continuing to improve each week," Head Coach Dave Doolin said.  "I can't wait to see what we can do over the next couple of weeks."

The Pioneers next meet will be November 11th as Franklin comes to Transylvania for the Pioneers first home meet of the season, starting at 11am.
