Historic Win for Swim and Dive in Franklin

FRANKLIN, IN - The Pioneers traveled to Franklin, Indiana for a duel in the pool against the Franklin College Grizzlies. The Pioneers fell short on the women's side of this matchup with a final score of 195-97. However, the men's team pulled off a historic win defeating the Grizzlies for the first time in program history. It could not have been closer as the Pioneers won with a final score of 146-144. 

Notable performances on the day: 

Pioneers showed off their depth in the distance events with a 2,3 finish in the women's 1650. 

Elliott Havens with a decisive victory in the women's 200 freestyle finishing in a time of 2:03.59. Havens also placed second in the women's 100 butterfly with a 1:02.62.

Emmie Campbell won the 100 meter backstroke in a final time of 1:04.30. 

On the men's side, this historic victory was led by a trio of victories from Junior, Kole Brannock. Brannock took first in all of his individual events: 100 Butterfly (54.57), 200 Backstroke (2:03.20) and the 200 Butterfly (2:03.89).

Brannock was closely followed by Braden Shearer who took second in the 200 Butterfly. 

Adam Tichy put on a clinic in the 1650, winning with a final time of 18:11.07. 

The Pioneers continued to show strength in numbers as they took first and third in the 100 breaststroke with performances from Lukas Mcintyre-Quinn and Roman Furuta finishing in a time of 1:03.72 and 1:05.43 respectively. Further, Mcintyre-Quinn continued to show his dominance in the 400 IM taking first in a time of 4:32.87. He was closely followed by teammate Joey Kissing who finished in a blistering 4:35.86. 

Head Coach Dave Doolin noted this historic victory post race and was very happy with his team's performance. Doolin stated "The team competed well today! The men's meet was back and forth the whole day and I was glad to see them finish the job! We will need to bring the same kind of energy next week at our midseason meet.".
