LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Men's Basketball won their home game
100-88 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic conference opponent
Manchester at the Clive M. Beck Center.
Transylvania shared the scoring duties equally with four different
players score in double figures.
Hunter Barr was the leading scorer on
the afternoon with 26 points while
Drew Marshall was the leading
rebounder with 15 rebounds.
Dakota Capps dished out five assists
during the afternoon win. Two players for Transylvania picked up
double-doubles during the afternoon win with Barr picking up his fifth
double-double of the season while Marshall picking up his fourth.
Transylvania held the early 8-3 lead going into the first timeout of
the game. The first 10 minutes of the game remained close as neither
team could pull away. With 10 minutes left in the first half, the game
was tied 22-22. The Pioneers were leading 37-30 over the Spartans with
five minutes to go until halftime. Transylvania increased their lead
to 11 points with two minutes left until halftime. At halftime, the
Pioneers were leading 54-47 over the Spartans.
Hunter Barr was the
leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first half with 17 points. Barr
along with
Drew Marshall led the Pioneers in rebounds with seven
rebounds apiece during the first half. The Pioneers shot 48.6 percent
from the floor and 46.2 percent beyond the arc in the first half.
Transylvania was still leading at the 15:00 minute in the second half
with a 65-53 lead. With 10 minutes left in the game, the Pioneers had
a comfortable 20-point lead over the Spartans. The Spartans tried to
make a comeback by cutting the lead down to eight points with less
than five minutes left in the game. However, the Pioneers held on and
won 100-88. The Pioneers are now 8-8 on the season while 5-4 in
conference play. The Pioneers shot 42.9 percent from the floor and
42.9 percent beyond the arc during the game.
