DANVILLE, Ky. - Transylvania overwhelmed Asbury 4-1 Friday in opening round play of the Centre College Soccer Showcase.
Transy is 2-0 on the season while the Eagles are 0-4.
The Pioneers won their second straight game to open the season and have allowed just one goal this year.
Transy led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Kristin Tenunfeld, who converted a pass by Natosha Boden (Nicholasville, Ky.), and freshman Carley Williams (Monroe, Ohio). Boden and Elizabeth Schmitt (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) had the other two Transy scores in the second half.
Boden scored two minutes into the final period on a touch following a cross by Tenunfeld. Schmitt capped the scorin at 57:23 when she found the corner of the goal.
Transy outshot the Eagles 30-5 and the Pioneers' keeper, Kara Hansel, had two saves.
Transy returns to action in the showcase on Sunday, playing Wooster at 1 p.m.
