Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. - Anderson broke open a tight game with an 11-0 run  late in the second half Saturday and hung on for a 69-58 win over  Transylvania in men's Heartland Conference basketball play.
Transy is 9-4 overall, 3-3 HCAC, while the Ravens are 4-4, 5-1 HCAC.
Neither team managed more than a six point lead until the Ravens went  on an 11-0 run beginning at the 10:49 mark of the second half. Anderson  increased its 42-41 lead to 53-41 and would eventually build its margin  to as many as 16 at the 3:13 mark before the Pioneers cut the final  margin to 11.
Anderson shot 40 percent from the field overall, including 10 of 26  from the three-point arc. Transy was at 32.8 percent from the field and  connected on seven of 24 from long range. Transy had a 39-36 edge on the  boards and committed just nine turnovers for the contest.
Ashley Hatfield (Pikeville, Ky.) and Ethan Spurlin (Stanford, Ky.) led the offense with 11 points each  and Brandon Rash (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) added seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists  before fouling out. His fifth foul coincided with Anderson's decisive  run.
Jarrin Forte's 16 points led five Ravens in double figures. Andrew Bowman had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Pioneer head coach Brian Lane remained one win behind Lee Rose for  No. 3 on Transy's all-time list with 159. Lane is 159-94 in nine plus  seasons.
In a defensive-oriented first half that saw neither team lead by more  than six, Anderson went into the dressing room with a 25-23 advantage.  The Ravens shot 33 percent in the period compared to 28 percent for the  Pioneers, who were led by Hatfield with eight points and five from Chris Owens (Maysville, Ky.). Owens finished with nine points.
Rash grabbed six rebounds as Transy piled up a 23-17 edge on the  boards. Forte came off the bench to lead Anderson with nine points in  the half.
Transy returns to action on Wednesday, remaining on the road to take on HCAC rival Mt. St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m.
